Settling in for a while......

May 30 & 31

Friday & Saturday

Well not much change at this point. She is still doing well. She has lost a little weight and also her jaundice levels are rising again. So we may be back under the lights at some point. The medical staff and doctor are not concerned about anything at this point. They are putting a higher calorie formula in with her feedings. This should help her gain a little weight. She actually took and entire feeding from a bottle yesterday! So that is good progress.

So the past two days have seen some visitors. My family has been back to visit and go to the “new” hospital and see Aleia. Ashlynn says that this is her hospital because we told here this was the same hospital where she was born. So she now lays claim to St Jo’s as HER hospital that Aleia got moved to from the old hospital. That is very funny to hear her giving out the corrections.

Tami and I try to make it up to as many feeding times as we can. But it is very tough right now due to all the other things going on and also the time it takes. Basically we can go at the 3,6,9,12 times as I mentioned earlier. But the logistics of it makes them quite different. So we leave 30 minutes before the time say 2:30. Then we stay at the hospital for the hour or maybe a little more. (3:10) Then the 30 minutes back to the house. (3:30- 3:40) So then it’s about a 1.5 to 2 hours before it starts all over again. And at 12 and 6 we have to try and work in a meal for us also. It makes it hard for us to get much done in between and we have lots to do to get ready for her trip home. So even though she is falling in to a routine, it is still somewhat hectic for us. I think we will get in to some kind of a routine soon ourselves soon, but at this point we are still trying to figure it all out.

I am currently attempting to complete Ashlynn’s “Big Girl” room with paint, new closet, new floor and new furniture. Then we get to move all from her old room and try to decrease the amount of stuff for her. Then Tami has decided she really would like to change the nursery with a new coat of paint. So those are some tasks to be completed and in quite the hurry. OR at least it seems. So lots of work around the house for me.

Tami is doing better. She is on plenty of iron supplements to increase her blood count. When they upped her to 3 pills a day, she has started to improve a bit. So that is good. Apparently her blood count was pretty bad. She went for a quick visit to the doctor on Thursday and her blood pressure was pretty good. So she is still in recovery, but progressing.

I guess last on the list for today is an amusing little story. We had some real trouble with Aleia’s middle name. It has not been mentioned in the blog to this date. Well we had Aleia picked out pretty early. But the other name was giving us some trouble. So we had one picked out that some of you may have heard or even seen. We did a little test run of names on the marker board in Tami’s Hospital room. So we have gone back and forth and around in circles on the middle name. (Even if it was to be her middle or first name.) So our indecisive nature was just having a field day on this one. Well it was on Wednesday, we had to fill out the birth certificate forms before she left the Med. And of course that has to have a middle name on it, if she is to have one. So we decided the one we thought we would use was not for her. So we started over. Thinking and looking for names. Anyway…. its just amusing that we were forced into the decision, but I think we did OK with our choice...…
